I’ve made an appointment, what should I expect? TopDr. Bauman will meet with you, or call you, at the pre-designated time. The session will last 50 minutes. The first couple of sessions will be to gather background information and assess your needs. If you and Dr. Bauman deem this a good fit, therapy will proceed from there. Every process is different and unique. Feel free to ask questions as you go along and Dr. Bauman will make every effort to answer them informatively.
Is this confidential? TopYes. Confidentiality is one of the most important elements in the therapeutic relationship. If you would like Dr. Bauman to speak with anyone (family, friends, physicians, etc.) you will be required to fill out a release form.
Does therapy work? TopYes. A wide range of studies have been conducted on this very question. It has been found that regardless of technique, the most important variable in the effectiveness of therapy is the therapeutic relationship. Many clients report that progress is often subtle while it is happening, but that looking back there are welcome changes in their presenting concerns and overall well being.
